The rare majesty of evilness...
I loved the new trailer.
I must admit that Thorin drifting to the dark side is one of the things I'm looking forward to the most and the trailer made it worse. Funny that I didn't care much about it in the book for I loathed Thorin there anyway - I guess that's the irony of life...
Hey, welcome to the club! And I certainly don't hate the original just because he's old and unattractive, to avoid wrong impressions!
Yes, I do, too. The most apparent end would be after Smaug's death (if he dies in this movie) but it may also end when Thorin breaks with Bilbo, though I guess that's too late, after all there will be another movie.
The problem with Thorin is; in the book he was unpleasant all the time, you'd hardly noticed the change, but if movie Thorin gets corrupted, the effect is unlike more intense. Especially since he's been so disgusted about grandpa Thror's gold fever in the prologue. He still seemed quite like his noble self when he was talking to Bard, so I guess he will start to turn slowly darker as soon as they arrive at Erebor (a Shining kind of thing).
I shouted at his majesty when this popped up
and then I died when I heard Smaug speak
