Oakentoon #95: Some folk we never forget by PeckishOwl Oakentoon #95: Some folk we never forget by PeckishOwl

Oh Aragorn... if only you'd remember about a certain elf maid in your Fellowship!

Or taken your elvish girlfriend instead of him, mwahahoot!

So here's an Oakentoon about the scene you keep asking me about - Tauriel healing Kili. Didn't expect "The Fellowship of the Ring", eh? Now I have nothing against the whole Tauriel-Kili romance (what happens in the dungeons isn't *that* bad) but up to a point - and that point was the healing scene, a sacrilege in so many ways, at least in my humble opinion - a scene I refuse to accept, a scene I'd like to forget and a scene I shall never forgive.

And the mischievous thought which came into my head then said: "Boromir took three and he didn't even wince!"

But he was a Man of Gondor, not a Descendant of the House of Durin ... :meow:

I thought the healing scene was so romantic!

until Tauriel began to SHINE...

That made me crack up so bad in the cinema, you could wipe me from the floor, I swear I have laughed so hard. THAT was terrible.

Same!!! I was sort of inwardly cringing a bit haha, but then when I rewatched Lord of the Rings, I noticed that the first time Frodo sees arwen (when he is stabbed by the morgul blade), she appears all shiny too. Either its because arwen is the evenstar or that maybe elves just shine when you've been stabbed with a morgul weapon?O_o

A friend of mine (really big fan of the Hobbit) was really annoyed by Tauriel's weird murmuring and compared the healing scene to soft ... adult entertainment. Ahem. Giggle

Awww come on, it was a POISONOUS arrow....

PS: Leogolas you're late, Boromir's dead already, you should have come sooner. Rage

Oh well, let's finally face it:
If Tauriel can do what Elrond can do, then these two must have much more in common than meets the eye.
Could it be that Elrond, in his younger days (say, some 600 years ago) had a lovely Mirkwood mistress...?

I'm pretty sure that the whole healing scene 'we need Athleas, we don't have any but we feed it to the pigs' actually comes from the Return of the King (book) where Aragorn heals Eowyn and Merry from being stabbed with the Witch-King's Morgol blade. As PJ cut it from the ROTK film, he decided to bring it to the Hobbit.

Oh, C'MON! It was a Morgul shaft! You can't blame him for being poisoned! Achilles got shot in the fucking foot and HE bit it, didn't he? :D

Also, I have nothing against KilliXTauriel. My only complaint is that "he's tall for a dwarf" comment, it doesn't fit Tauriel's character. Otherwise, she's displaying some friendly affection and concern. Her face when Killi starts hallucinating and confessing on Bard's house shows she's confused and didn't expect THAT! I don't know, the writers seem to be going back and forth with the "Red String Strangling" of movies.

But as far as we know, Lurtz wasn't using Morgul Arrows. Plus, it took Kili a good long while to start falling apart.
I have a theory that only female Elves are taught healing magic. Otherwise, I'm sure Legolas would know it and use it several times over. Also, I think Tauriel isn't from Mirkwood, but rather from another Elf Kingdom, probably Galadriel's. Mirkwood Elves seem a little less... well, Beorn said "less wise", so let's just go by that and leave it at that.
